Advertising in the Super Bowl is risky business because of the high costs to produce the creative and to purchase airtime. That being said, Denny’s produced some noteworthy results from their investment. MediaPost reports that more than two million people took advantage of their special Grand Slam Breakfast Giveaway. But that’s not all. Since announcing this year’s Grand Slam Giveaway, Denny's website has seen more than 49 million hits. In addition, approximately 300,000 people have signed up for their rewards program. MediaWeek estimates the cost of a :30 spot on the Super Bowl this year was $2.5m to $2.8m; Denny’s ran three commercials so the airtime alone carried a hefty cost. One side note: this was the most watched television show of all time (not just Super Bowl) with 106.5 million average viewers during the program. The most watched commercial of all time ran at 9:30pm during the game: Dorito’s spot with 116 million viewers. (Check out the list of most watched commercials)
