ATHLETIC REPUBLIC NORWOOD SPORTS PERFORMANCE TRAINING CENTER CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING

New England Patriot legend Andre Tippett will help Athletic Republic Norwood celebrate the Grand Opening of the new sports performance training center on Saturday, February 27 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.  The new facility, located at 290 Vanderbilt Avenue in Norwood, offers a unique results-based training program for athletes of all sports, ages and abilities.

For athletes who are serious about hockey, football, baseball, lacrosse or any other organized sport, Athletic Republic Norwood offers a fundamental strength and coordination development program.   Internationally recognized as a state-of-the-art training protocol for athletes committed to improving their capabilities, the Athletic Republic program focuses on building the key athletic components of speed, power, agility and anaerobic endurance. One-on-one coaching and performance feedback are critical features of the program, utilized by junior high through professional-level athletes.

The Norwood facility features more than14,000 square feet of training area, including 55 yards of turf, Olympic-style weight equipment, conditioning cords and much more. The new facility will use proprietary Athletic Republic technologies including a custom plyometric floor and Super Running Treadmills, which help to train athletes at game-specific velocities. For hockey players, there is a synthetic ice rink, as well as a hockey-specific treadmill that allows trainers to focus on both speed and stride.

“Athletic Republic is the only facility of its kind that can offer athletes the tools they need to improve their conditioning, something critical to their success,” said PJ Vande Rydt owner and coach at Athletic Republic.  “We are excited to bring this facility to Greater Boston and look forward to working with athletes of all ages.”

Andre Tippett, a member of the New England Patriots Hall of Fame, will be on hand at 1:00 p.m. as part of  the grand opening celebration.  Tippett played 12 seasons for the New England Patriots and appeared in five Pro Bowls.  Also attending the event later that afternoon will be D.A., weeknight host on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

The grand opening will offer local athletes an opportunity to speak with Athletic Republic trainers and participate in equipment demonstrations.  A host of prizes will be given out throughout the day, including prize packages to Modell’s, tickets to 2010 Red Sox Games, upcoming Bruins games and the Hockey East Championship games at the TD Bank Garden.  Athletic Republic Norwood will offer a 20% discount off any program when you sign up on February 27.

Athletic Republic plans to run football combines during the spring and summer. Athletic Republic Norwood also hosts an Adult Boot Camp, providing a mix of conditioning, agility, strength, plyometrics and flexibility programs taught in a class format to multiple levels of capability from beginner though advanced. In addition, the Norwood facility runs Mini Athletes, a program for children aged 3 to 6 to take part in sports fun, learning a new sport each week.
